Workout Program

Do you have a swimming workout program you want to share?

I used to be on a team in high school and am getting back into the pool again but want a little structure… I am looking for any kind of workout routines for the pool besides endless amounts of laps. Anyone have a favorite program they would like to share? I do all strokes and have kickboards, pull buoys, and paddles.

I am training for a Corporate Challenge in Richardson, TX where companies compete against each other in Olympic style events. It really got me back into swimming and I’m swimming faster now than I ever did in high school.

I swim for 30 minutes during lunch each day. The first part is a 500 yard warm-up. From there I choose a variety of pull exercises and kicks. The last 50 is spent doing a freestyle sprint to guage my time. I get in 1000 yards a day during my lunch break. It’s not the 4000-5000 yard swims that I did back in high school, however, it’s a start.

Your best bet is to check out this site. It’s taken from the Dallas Area Masters swim club. http://www.damswim.com/practice.htm

What foods should I eat to help with a workout/exercise program?

I am not fat at all…but, I have never really ever eaten that healthy. I run a couple times a week. And I want to start a Workout Program (i.e run, lift, run, lift, etc). I also want to start eating more healthy. I don’t drink anymore soda (I haven’t for awhile) and as of this year I am cutting out fast food. But what do I buy at the store thats "healthy" that will work well with my execise program? Thank you.

Best Workout Program to Lose Fat and Gain Muscle

The best way to burn fat is to gain muscle and transform your body into a fat burning furnace. This article will show you how to burn fat in a healthier way. Every 10 years past the age of thirty your body loses approximately 10 percent of muscle mass. Muscle requires calories and energy to exist. The less muscle you have, the fewer calories you will burn. Even if you eat the way you have always done without any changes, as you get older if you do not lift weights, you will gain weight.

Muscle loss also account for poor balance and promotes injury due to falls, especially in older, frail adults. Muscle tone and flexibility contribute to good posture and can help prevent osteoporosis and lower back problems. In sports, the stronger athlete is the better athlete. Skill and timing may be crucial but strong muscles will help him make up what he lacks.

Weight-bearing exercise builds sturdier bones. This is of particular importance to women who may be prone to osteoporosis due to decreasing estrogen levels during menopause on a genetic predisposition. Strength training is therefore important for preventing the muscle loss that normally accompanies the aging process.

A common misconception is that as one gets older, it is normal to stop being active and to start using ambulatory aides like canes and wheel chairs. Many people think that they have no choice. They think it is normal!

But this could not be far from the truth. There is absolutely no reason why all of us can not be physically, mentally, and socially active, living a healthy vibrant life until the very day we die. The reason many elderly people rely on ambulatory aides and become slower and fatter over the years is because their muscles are decreasing. So their physical performance and metabolism also decrease, becoming less efficient.

From the above discussion it is clear that as one grows older one must lift weights! This ‘lifting weights’ will help in preventing muscle mass and also control ‘putting on weight’ nature. The muscle built burns the calories and avoids the extra weight accumulating in the body. Added benefits include strong bones and better balance.

What is the best workout program for the Wii?

I know there are a lot of games for the wii that have good exercise programs but which is the best? I know about the Wii Fit but it doesn’t really have a Workout Program. I know about My Fitness Coach but the exercises aren’t very easy to follow. I have also heard about the Jillian Micheals 2009 fitness ultimatum and EA Sports Active but don’t know much about them. any info would help.

i would get the EA one because it has more of a real workout than the others but i would also get the wiifit board because it works with the EA sports active game but you dont need the wii fit board to use it.
